Hump Day Inspiration: Oakland Green Youth Arts & Media Center

Last week I had the chance to check out the grand opening for the recent addition to the neighborhood, the Green Youth Arts & Media Center. A community garden peeks out from the back and freshly painted walls hung with records and art await inside. The place is home to a muralist collective, offers programs like music and video production, and is sponsored by the Black Eyed Peas’ Peaod Foundation among others. I’m really stoked to have this amazing new neighbor! If you’d like to help them out, they’re still on the lookout for things like art supplies and old equipment.
