HCFM: Emiliana Torrini
If you’re looking for something fun to do tonight, and want to support an awesome cause, than be sure to head over to the Uptown for just that: the Stop the War on Fun benefit will feature great local acts like catchy dance rock outfit The Hundred Days and retro surf girl popsters the Hot Toddies all in the name of helping some other local venues in need. For more info, The Bay Bridged has you covered on that front.
If your weekend is already jam packed then maybe some mellow mid-week music is more your style. In that case, check out the bubbly Emiliana Torrini at the Great American Music Hall on Tuesday evening. The native Icelander’s latest album, Me and Armini, ranges from almost embarrassingly poppy songs like ‘Big Jumps’ (featured video) to moodier, sexier tones like that in ‘Gun.’ I remember hearing her song ‘Sunny Road’ several years ago on a Putomayo mix (don’t ask) and totally loving it… so I’m glad to see her talents have proven her to be much more than a one-hit blip on a compilation. Tickets are $20, and the TI-covering Anya Marina opens!
This video makes me want to go out and harrass some snails, btw…
