Tonight: Bay Area Laugh Leader Competition
Tonight, at the Purple Onion in San Francisco, come bear witness to the beginning of a grueling stand-up comedy competition: there can be only one Bay Area Laugh Leader. Held in the piano bar of Caffe Macaroni, the competition will endure over 10 weeks with over 80 contestants fighting for the coveted sfstandup.com sponsored title.
Tonight’s ‘First Round’ will feature 5 minute sets from 12 performers, with a different line-up for each of the following 7 weeks. The winner gets cash, radio appearances, and much needed face time at top Bay Area comedy venues- and you can help decide who’s worthy since the decision will be based on both judges and audience votes.
Can’t make it tonight? Don’t sweat it- comedic competitors will be putting their game faces on every Wednesday until one reigns supreme over the 10 minute sets of the championships held on September 2nd.
