Happy Catchy Midweek Music: Suburban Kids with Biblical Names
May 20, 2009
You guys already got the lowdown on Still Flyin’ a couple of weeks ago. If you missed their CD release two weeks ago, never fear. They’re opening for SKWBN Thursday at the Rickshaw Stop.
Maybe it’s something in the water over there but the Northern Europeans really know their pop songs. Junior Senior from Denmark, Peter Bjorn +John plus Lykke Li from Sweden, you catch my drift. SKWBN are no exception. Their catchy hooks and penchant for du-wop style vocalizations make you want to sing along. Peep the video for the single “Rent A Wreck” and check out SKWBN, Still Flyin’, Pelle Carlberg and Oh No Oh My! at the Rickshaw Stop tomorrow night!

Adorable! Kinda slightly reminds me of a couple of tracks off ’69 Love Songs’ by Magnetic Fields, no? And a random tidbit- was listening to the radio the other day, KALX I think, and they were giving away tickets to whoever could call in first and explain where they got their name from. Answer: a lyric from the song ‘People’ by Silver Jews. Is there someone in the Bible named Johan?
